Welcome to the New Brunswick Area Branch National Association for th Advancement of Colored People, NBAB-NAACP. In more than 85 years of service to the community we have provided advice, advocacy, resources, forums, and educational materials.
These are tumultuous times. Our country is in a health crisis, unemployment hovers over 35%, thousands are homeless and starving. High-quality public education and many other services provided by our government are under attack.
The NBAB-NAACP on behalf of individuals and some of our allies has and will support lawsuits against public and private entities for practices that prevent achieving freedom, justice, and equity.
I say with pride we are committed to our youth. We have a thriving ACTSO – Afro Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympic mentor program focusing on high school students. We are advisor to the Rutgers Scarlet NAACP chapter, three of their members sit on our executive committee. We even support the NAACP’s NEXTGEN – Next Generation leadership development program for young adults between the ages of 21 – 40.
The NBAB-NAACP believes it is critical for citizens who have the right to vote, do vote. The right to vote is paramount in assuring we have a free, just, and democratic society. We are fighting to ensure anyone eligible to vote does not have their franchise infringed upon. We are fighting against all voter suppression efforts.
The NBAB-NAACP continues to collaborate with organizations, houses of worship and others where there is a common interest for freedom, justice, and equity. The NBAB-NAACP remains committed to work with local government entities to facilitate cooperation, and full support of our community.
Our General Membership meetings are held virtually via Zoom on the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 6:30 pm. We hope to meet you at various in-person events at community meetings, festivals, etc.
We welcome your questions, comments, and ideas. Contact us by telephone; 732.828.5363, email: newbrunswickareanaacp@gmail.com or USPS; PO Box 235, New Brunswick, NJ 08903.
We encourage you to join ‘the largest and oldest, the baddest and boldest, the most loved and most hated, most feared and revered, most cussed and most discussed civil right organization in America’, the NAACP.
WHEN WE FIGHT – WE WIN!
In Unity,
Bruce S. Morgan, President
